In six weeks, I’ll be trekking to Everest Base Camp in Nepal to raise money for the North West Air Ambulance (NWAA). Over 15 days, I’ll cover miles of 80 miles and climb to an altitude of 5,364m.
The NWAA is a charity that is very close to my heart. In 2012, my stepmum was involved in a nearly fatal motorbike accident. Thanks to the NWAA, she was airlifted to hospital and received lifesaving treatment for multiple severe injuries, including a broken spine, collar bone, shoulder and pelvis. Her recovery was very tough but has been nothing short of inspiring. She’s since trekked to Everest Base Camp, summited Kilimanjaro, and completed multiple Ironman triathlons, raising over £10,000 for NWAA along the way. None of this would have been possible without their help.
The NWAA operates entirely on donations, with no government funding. So I now believe it’s my turn to give back and make an impact.
