I started my figure skating journey at the age of 5. Roller skating in an artistic context was not a very well known sport with little support compared to its cool, ice partner. I could barely stand up, wobbling my way across the floor with many slips and stumbles, gripping the wall for dear life, and I loved it. I admit, I cannot quite remember the process of learning to skate, but I certainly was not a natural.

I spent over six years with competition results of last (or close to!). However, I persevered through sheer love of the sport, winning my first competition at age 11. I remember the joy of holding up a trophy on the podium, knowing my hard work had finally started to pay off.

At the age of 15, I attained the position of 9th in the UK, my highest national ranking so far. Being in the top 10 (just!) allowed me to apply for Team GB. I progressed to skating at my first ever international competition in Hettange (France) during the October of 2019. Honestly, despite only coming 19th, I skated my absolute best and had the most fun out of any competition, it was one of the best weeks of my life. I was surrounded by so many different people from a range of countries and skating backgrounds. I learnt so much by watching others and made so many new, international friends. It is one of my most proud achievements to date, a childhood goal achieved.

However, during the year of 2020, I was unable to skate due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. I took the decision to focus on my college classes and achieving my A-Level exams, which took time away from my skating training. Whilst I loved skating, after achieving my goal, I lost a little bit of motivation and decided to retire to skating for fun and helping out my club by coaching. I also made the decision to go through with a bone restructuring surgery to solve bunion issues I had in my feet that had only worsened by skating.

So as of December 2021, I retired from my skating life. After some inspiration from my coach, I decided to take up the training program to be a judge. And now, as of October 3rd 2022, I am happy to say I was successful in my attempts and am now a fully qualified and active judge of GB’s Artistic Roller Skating Officials.
