CVs can be daunting! If you’re looking to start your career, I have a helpful template that you can download and use. It is available as both .docx and .pages for Windows and MacOS compatibility. I created the template myself so there are no copyright issues to worry about, it is completely free to use.
You can see the template here and I have some advice about how to complete it below!
Your CV should start with a brief, friendly introduction to yourself, let your personality show through! You should then include all work experience, regardless of relevance! You need to state the company name, the start / end dates and your job role – for work experience in a learning environment, it’s a good idea to use intern. It’s a good idea to include extra-curriculars such as being a student ambassador, sports participant etc. as these show interest and motivation to participate. Add any awards, competitions or courses you’ve completed such as Duke of Edinburgh, UK Maths challenge or Bebras. I also like to add a skills section of just general competencies such as your maths ability, teamwork, organisation, computer literacy and communication skills. I think it’s also a great idea to add things like your interests and hobbies as they just provide a bit more about you and your personality, especially when starting an early career!
Feel free to head to my Careers Advice page for any further questions and I’ll be happy to help.
Hope this helps and good luck for your future career!
